Anthurium
For a little taste of the tropics, introduce a Bali Anthurium to your home.
Bali Anthuriums come from parts of the world with lots of humidity and mostly mild winters. They grow at a slow, moderate pace, with increased growth seen during the warmest and sunniest months of the year. Anthuriums are perfect for entryways because they often symbolize warm welcomes and abundance! When your flower blooms, be sure to remove flowers that appear dry or faded. Removing these flowers will help the plant focus on creating new, growing blooms. For this special variety, flowers are most likely to occur during the spring and summer season.
Light: While your Bali Anthurium can tolerate low levels of sunshine, it will grow best in bright, indirect lighting. Watch closely as your plant acclimates--too much direct sunlight might burn the leaves.
Watering: Make sure to water your Anthurium when the soil is dry to your touch. It’s important to avoid overwatering, as they are somewhat prone to root rot. This said, if you currently live in a dry area climate, it is essential to mist your Anthurium regularly. You may also choose to use an indoor humidifier to help create more moisture in the air.
Food: Your Bali Anthurium will not need frequent fertilizing. Plan to feed it about once every season, using specific fertilizer for houseplants. In order to encourage healthy blooms, look for a fertilizer with a higher amount of phosphorus.
