These lovely blooms are quickly becoming the next big trend in floral design.

Nearly everyone has received a carnation at some point in their life. These slightly scented beauties are easy to recognize, thanks to their tuffle-like petals. You’ll often see carnations in a wide variety of colors but are traditionally grown in white, red, purple, and orange. They’re also grown in bi-colors and frosted types.

Carnations were extremely popular during the reign of Louis XIV. Women in court would compete to find unique colors and sizes. These sweetly scented flowers are closely associated with Mother’s Day and often celebrate a couple’s first anniversary.
