Rose

One of the most beloved flowers in the world, roses have a storied history. With over 150 species of roses, and thousands of hybrid varieties, the flower is one of the most popular in the world for both gardeners and florists.

Although traditionally symbolizing love, each color of rose has a distinct meaning. Red roses symbolize passionate love; pink roses represent romance; yellow roses represent friendship; orange roses represent enthusiasm; and white roses symbolize purity.

Countless artists and writers have been inspired by the rose, and one of the most famous writers of all time, William Shakespeare was inspired by the rose. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet proclaims, “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.”
