Native to the Nile River Valley, Ammi majus is commonly known as lady’s lace or laceflower. Juice from the plant was used in ancient Egypt to treat vitiligo, a skin disease causing loss of pigmentation.

The genus name Ammi is derived from the Greek word for sand, a reference to the plant’s native habitat. The delicate white flower clusters make it a popular choice for bouquets and flower borders.

Extremely easy to grow in a variety of soils, this annual, non-invasive species is ideal for attracting beneficial insects into the garden.
