Our Pomegranate, a native of Eurasia are grown domestically. They are sub-tropical plants and grow best in sunny areas. For best results, place your indoor bonsai near windows facing southeast or west. If you do not have a place for your tree to receive adequate sunlight, we recommend using a grow light (10 to 12 hours per day). In warm weather, all indoor trees grow best outside. Your tree should be brought indoors when nighttime temperatures begin to dip below 50. Never allow your indoor bonsai to freeze.

Watering properly.
Your Pomegranate should be watered thoroughly every two or three days. Never let a bonsai totally dry out. Water your bonsai properly by using a watering can or hose attachment that has a fine-spray end. You should thoroughly soak your bonsai’s soil. Water should be running out of the drain holes. General care is also important to maintaining a beautiful bonsai. Bonsai should be periodically trimmed to keep their miniature shape. Dead foliage and branches can be removed at any time. To best understand trimming and wiring techniques, we recommend purchasing an instructional book or reaching out to a horticultural professional.

Repotting.
Repot with good bonsai soil every 4-5 years during late spring/early summer. Bonsai requires periodic trimming to maintain a miniature shape.

Fertilizing.
Fertilizing Pomegranate is desirable especially in the spring. We recommend “Bonsai Pro” fertilizer.

Insects and diseases.
Insects and diseases can attack your Pomegranate just like any other plant. Inspect your bonsai regularly. A brisk spraying of the trunk and foliage will periodically help keep your tree clean. If any problems appear, most garden centers have products available for treatment.
